Marie-José brings to Umalia the experience and vision acquired during a long career in development, both in Canada and abroad. She has worked in the field and at the executive level with a number of non-profit organizations and international cooperation groups such as Oxfam-Québec and the UN (including programs such as FAO and FNUAP).
Marie-José has lived in several African countries, including Benin, Madagascar, Cape Verde, Chad, Mauritania and Niger, and has worked in nearly a dozen other countries around the world.
She excels at mentoring, helping people develop the skills they need to successfully carry out their projects in the field. Within the framework of international development projects she has coached professional aid workers in Benin and international volunteers.
Her proven expertise in project management, her strong creativity and her keen listening skills all serve her well in facilitating partnerships that benefit Umalia’s clients and non-profit organizations.
